Princesses & Faeries Adult Coloring Book by Tomoko Tashiro (お姫さまと妖精のぬり絵ブック by 田代知子)

So there's this adult colouring book craze that has come about as a result of our increasingly stressful society. It started out with Secret Garden by Johanna Basford, and then everyone else climbed onto the bandwagon.

I did not give this craze any attention, until I saw the Japanese version of the Princesses & Faeries Adult Coloring Book by Tomoko Tashiro. I bought it for one reason only - the short stories in Japanese at the end of the book that will help me in my Japanese language studies. However, one cannot deny that the pictures are beautifully nostalgic.

Going to Seoul on an Student Visa D4(1) (申请韩国学生签证)

If you are going to be a language student in Korea for more than 3 months (one term), you would need to obtain a D4(1) Visa. It takes about a week from the date of application to get the visa on your passport (it could be faster or slower depending on the number of applicants). You have to enter Korea within 3 months, and you will be given an extra month to settle into the country, look for accommodation, take the placement test etc.

You can either print out the application form from the website:

http://sgp.mofa.go.kr/english/as/sgp/visa/issuance/index.jsp

or get a copy at the embassy. There is also a photocopier and photo booth for use.

Be prepared to wait up to 4 hours from the time you submit your documents to the time your number gets called for a general evaluation of your suitability for a visa. The waiting time for visa collection is shorter. I waited less than 2 hours.

DIY Wire Craft: Pet Schnauzers (铁线工艺: 雪纳瑞)

Now and then I would keep a lookout for things to surprise the boy with, and recently, I came across the perfect item when browsing in a bookstore. It was the perfect gift for me and the boy, since I like to craft and the boy loves his six schnauzers.

The box contained enough furred wire, eyes and noses to make 4 dogs.

Two different colored furred wires.

The head is being shaped first.

The nose.

The body and legs taking shape.

All done except for the nose and eyes.

The beard which makes a schnauzer look like an old man, and the brows, had to be glued on, otherwise they would drop. That was the only thing I did not like about it, as I had make an additional purchase of glue. Other than that, the instructions were clear and the dogs were relatively simple and quick to make.
